How to pray THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

JML-PLOGS poetic commentary is below

My Covid Lent Ramble

House keeping inquired
Asking about the pictures
The inn keeper asked me

To stop talking because
She’s on the clock
So— I don’t get it— like ever

I can’t get on board
Cherry picking justification
From sacred texts

And I’m not going to agree
Just to save a moment
From frustrated views

So I’m out— I’m against racism
I’m against communism
I’m against anarchy

You know— I saw the ashes
Just blowing in the wind
From dust to dust

My face was blown off
Standing in the fire
Displaced— I was stoned

And it doesn’t matter
That stone crumbled
Blowing away— just gone

You line your spine
With forged knives
That raged in your fire

But for every strain and pain
Even with heart for any fate
You’re still destined to be dust

To willingly be open—
To answer a call—
Repent and believe the Gospel

From dust you came
To dust you shall return
The Alpha and Omega

THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS

This explanation applies to THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS — too.

Our Lady of the Rosary

I don’t want to overwhelm anyone learning about the Rosary for the first time. There are some very complex religions out there— one being Catholicism. It’s a religion loaded with controversy, scandal, kneeling, and The Rosary.

The Rosary fulfills the spiritual need for reflection and meditation. It’s not a prayer that asks God for a new job or tv. In the meditation zone of saying the Rosary— it’s an immersion into your spiritual interior life.

The Rosary is often said in a group out loud. You can privately say the Rosary all the way through or even let yourself fall asleep while saying the Rosary. Let me just say— reading the book of Genesis will put you to sleep and saying the Rosary at bedtime will put you to sleep. Not judging is a commandment so— definitely there is no judgment on how you say the Rosary.

Another thing I like about the Rosary is that it’s an anxiety relief tool. Some of you know that I walk a lot. It’s primarily habit and a need to burn off anxiety. Frequently, I say the Rosary while walking just to work out all that brewing anxiety. Maybe your anxiety relief is counting— you can carry a rosary and count your way back into reality and nobody will question your beads.

The more I pray the Rosary, I have found there’s no perfect way to say the Rosary other than having a Holy intent. You don’t need to worry about the counting or reciting the prayers perfectly— everything takes time and practice.

Below are some links to the actual Rosary prayers. I definitely recommend at least trying it because the Rosary’s mantra prayer meditation is very similar to current trends in meditation— albeit a very old contemplative Christian form of meditation.

Charity

By the intercession of St. Michael and
the heavenly Choir of Seraphim, may it
please God to make us worthy to receive
into our hearts the fire of His perfect charity.
Amen.

Saint Francis’ Sermon to the Birds

My little sisters, the birds, much bounden are ye unto God, your Creator, and always in every place ought ye to praise Him, for that He hath given you liberty to fly about everywhere, and hath also given you double and triple raiment; moreover He preserved your seed in the ark of Noah, that your race might not perish out of the world; still more are ye beholden to Him for the element of the air which He hath appointed for you; beyond all this, ye sow not, neither do you reap; and God feedeth you, and giveth you the streams and fountains for your drink; the mountains and valleys for your refuge and the high trees whereon to make your nests; and because ye know not how to spin or sow, God clotheth you, you and your children; wherefore your Creator loveth you much, seeing that He hath bestowed on you so many benefits; and therefore, my little sisters, beware of the sin of ingratitude, and study always to give praises unto God.
