JML - PLOGS (2014-2023)
The Transfiguration
Raphael, Oil on panel, 1516-1520
Commissioned by Cardinal Giulio de Medici,
the later Pope Clement VII, Vatican Museum
“Which is quite unusual, the composition
of The Transfiguration is divided into two
distinct parts which illustrate two episodes
narrated in succession in the Gospel
according to Matthew: the Miracle of the
Possessed Boy on a lower level; and the
Transfiguration of Christ on Mount Tabor,
in the background. The transfigured Christ
floats in an aura of light and clouds above
the hill, accompanied by Moses and Elijah.
Below, on the ground, are his disciples.”

PLOGS BELOW (JML's Poetic Commentary)
Faith is Available
There was a Healing
There was a Hope
There was a Salvation
But... but... but...
But my life— still changing
But my mind— still wishful
But being Holy— still not ready
And here I am—
Like a shattered bulb
Held together by grace
And I hear—
“Listen to Him”
“Get up”
“Don’t be afraid”
Though unable to reply
Conceding to obedience
As it turns out
God loves my arrogance
It never ends
And while I’m not
Meant to sail
On the same ship
I will stay in Sophia’s wake.
