Holy Dreams

Harden not our hearts

Yes... I know God is not a dove
But I’ve been held by that
Big white dove in dreams
As my own father looked on

It’s not a Picasso line dove
Nor a feathery Papal announcement
It’s a big white giant dove
Swooping me up and holding me

Over his shoulder and patting me
On my back— letting me know
Everything is going to be okay
It’s a vivid reacquiring dream

Oh and Scholastica— palm to face
I’ve seen her too— long grey hair
I think she ditched her habit
A fairy godmother-esque woman

Kind, gentle, nice, and social
We’ve talked about mirrors
We’ve talked about ice sculptures
We’ve talked about figure skating

I guess she just checks in every
Now and then— making sure
I stay on track and after the storm
She was there helping me get back

I don’t really know how to explain
But I do believe it’s all real
And I know for sure — always
The Saints will go marching in.
