The Saints Go Marching In
I haven't got
Hours or a day
Tightening perfection
So you can
Appear a winner
Standing on point
My toes
Hold
Posture
The first stab
Through
My heart
Pushing me
From the front
And slung to
The back
Now that
Aligned
The second
Wound severing
My spine
But I spin
More freely
On the axis
Of your whine
So crush
My rib cage
Break my neck
Hammer my knees
And wonder why?
I
Am
Still
Here
My heart
Pulsating
Beating
My lungs
Breathing
Exhaling
Exasperation
You beg me
For more
Of what?
In my mind
I call you
A beast
I put up
A wall
You can
Cross over
No more
It's not
Freeing
I still
Feel my
Pain
Remorse
I get up
And dance
Once more
This time
To save
Your life
Not asking
Why!!!
Because
I
Am
Still
Here
His honor stripped
Forsaking a life
Including mine
Soaked
With hell
To pay
In my mind
That moment
Frozen with time
The foggy morning
With the sun rising
Could not dry
Desperation as he
Painted his own life
To sacredly spare mine
And all the saints
From heaven and beyond
March in--
Vindicating the greatest
Love-- his love, my love, your love
Those weren't only his sins
I've told the beloved
Sun to leave me alone
Too many days wondering
Why!!! and knowing the truth
He saved my life
Right from the start
And I will celebrate
Him for now on--
The Shofar sounds
As we line up
Living with peace
Trumpets
Trombones
Drummers
An obvious child
With all her friends
Bicycle bells ring
A knowing
The angels have
Feathery wings
Leading the way
Uniting the world
Since antiquity
All spirits past
Now present
For this moment
Light the kinara candles
Let them burn year round
As the saints go marching in--
Bring what
You've got
Cheers follow
Buddha delights
Hindu deities
Shining bright
Muhammad concurs
God is one
Uniting us all
We stand together
Honoring Zoraster
Honoring Druid priests
Praising the paschal mystery
Mystics now living
Outside monasteries
As the saints
The glory of all life
Go marching in--
Being You
All that You are
Sends the saints
Marching in.
