For Palm Sunday

Your triumphant entrance is done.
Lazarus arose from the dead,
the crowd believes in God’s Son.
Passover’s begun— Your last bread.

Tenebrae— extinguish the candles slowly
And anoint the sick.
You predict something unholy—
Your apostles tend a dirty trick—

Gloria in excelsis deo!
The altar bells are rung!
But everyone is saddened—
For on a cross You’re hung.

I can’t imagine Mary’s grief.
Her heart sunk so low.
For sure in total disbelief—
Christ’s death brings great woe.

For at the end of His Passion—
With blind faith we anticipate Resurrection.
Awaiting Ascension—
Humbling forgiveness— leads all to genuflection.

Passion

When logic fails
Sufficient explanation
Of any happening

Say what you like
Remember your love
Gratitude sustains

Releasing all despair
Holding faith daily
The sun will rise

And upon setting
In for the night
Love comes back

Again and again.
