Artist Statement
(summery) My cause is being here as an artist so we can have a dialog about the time, space, and the myth of the moment.
(extended) I have worked as an artist my entire life. In 2016, I legally changed my name to separate myself and personal life from the illusion of “art life.” Current events and cancel culture have influenced a culture of death in society which is why I choose to title most of my exhibitions, “Living Here.” Artists must be alive to make work. There is no life in deprecation and a culture of death. As long as I am alive my work will continue to be about the persistence and presence of life happening constantly.
We are all influenced by ancestral knowledge of philosophy passed down through generations by artists capturing a myth that is lived out in life during any moment in time. That myth is surrounded by current events, fads, inventions, and politics; which allows my work to also serve as a dialog with viewers about the time, space and the myth of the moment. The artistic influences of my work are by impressionist landscape painters, minimalism, pop culture, world religions and spirituality.
