More than a tree, reindeer, and Santa

This year for Christmas— I’ve decided to
actually make an advent wreath and light
the candles. It’s probably been more than
two decades since consistently lighting the
candles and keeping daily advent prayers.

And we all know things come up— daily stresses
— unexpected hiccups— the traffic— the noise
— the reasons— the distractions— (ie. life happens).

Christmas is just that— a life happening— Jesus’
birth. When I personally think about Jesus’ birth—
I see an iconic image of the Madonna and Child.
Certainly— that image has been recreated by many
artists. The colors change with the period decor and
ideals of the time, but the essence of the Blessed
Mother holding her Child, Jesus, close never changes.

So, I’m choosing to remember the Madonna and Child
particularly as well as the traditional Nativity as my
“home decor” this year; and of course— my advent
wreath.

Below is a pdf for advent with reflections by both men
and women.

XOXO! JML
