Locked in -- or -- Locked out

At home with me...

Grabbing the door-- knob
Rattling the door-- knob
A door not opening--

Staring, a clock ticking-- thinking
Really-- Mama Sophie!
Remembering the Golden Rule

And the Pascal Mystery pursues
I noticed the phone--
Hung on a wall-- Yet--

I have no one to call;
Knowing two numbers--
Neither would answer.

And where is my Nun?
Gated windows-- a broken elevator
Empty lockers-- I found a pen--

The broken washer sign--
Now mine-- So, I wrote--
To Sophia-- telling Her everything.

This time-- how my heart--
Shattered-- because
I should have known.

Getting past that -- as if--
It was level one--
Next Topic--

What I thought I should
Be doing at this--
Moment-- stuck, alone--

Animating a video--
Writing for work--
Finding more work--

That shit didn't even
Get a level-- So,
To find number two...

What's blocking-- My
Metaphysical being-- before
Articulating that pain--

I said, "I'm hungry."
I said, "I'm thirsty."
I said, "I have to pee."

Seeing that shadow-- An omen
From my dream-- running
As I peer in -- closing

The door to the light--
What was it before this?
What was it before that?

Flashing back-- it wasn't just a room
I don't need just a room-- Virginia--
Of my own-- and nothing to lose.

I began laughing-- freeing myself
Fearlessly jovial-- full of expression
Something ado about 20--

This life is never nothing.
Here, there, everywhere--
A must-- just being always--

At home with Me.

And like clock work-- a fated irony--
I heard a rustle and called out--
Mama Sophie opened the door.

Merci Beaucoup, Sophia!
